After the murders of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, many cities throughout America began to come together to protest systemic racism in America. Spanning more than five centuries, the racism that has been woven into the fabric of our country can no longer be tolerated and the way in which we approach public safety such as the Police, must be dismantled and reworked. The bottom line—enough is enough and it's time, for real, for change.
Daryn and I had the opportunity to speak with actor and comedian Bob the Drag Queen, season 8 winner of "Rupaul's Drag Race" and current co-start of the hit HBO show "We're Here." It was a week when the protests had traveled to cities across the world and the social unrest was high. Three months of quarantine, economic hardships and people protesting for their lives, taking the time to do a podcast, especially with two white cisgendered women, didn't seem like it would be at the top of anyone's list but Bob made time for us, and we are forever grateful.
In this episode we laughed, we cried and we discussed racism in America, the impact of "We're Here" and the hope we all have for the future. This is an episode I'm really proud of and we hope you enjoy it.
